You want to sign up to Burn After Reeding?!

Woohoo! Come this way!

Web designer, Dana Reed, sitting on a dock at the Thunder Bay marina, in front of some grain elevators.

Hey, I’m Dana Reed - Squarespace web designer, inveterate cat lady with a serious chocolate habit, artist, photographer, and strongly opinionated GenXer.

I’ve run small businesses for over a decade, in fields a varied as jewellery design and manufacturing to business admin and teaching metalsmithing and sailing.

So if you’re interested in a fortnightly opinion on how to keep your website relevant, the latest and greatest from Squarespace, useful info to help you run your small business more efficiently, or best practices for accessibility, sign up to Burn After Reeding .

And every issue has my latest hot take or ridiculous anecdote and a random cat pic, probably of the goof below. Guaranteed human written, no AI. (well, I’m pretty sure I’m a human)

Black and white image of a fluffy tabby cat, sitting on an open notebook.

This is Rascal, furry sidekick and the real star of the show.

A little newsletter philosophy here:

I don’t know about you but it irks me to see something that might be useful on someone’s website, but I have to sign up to their mailing list to even see if it is.

And more often than not, it isn’t really.

You won’t get that here. If I’ve got something cool to offer, for free, you’ll just be able to bloody well download it, no strings attached.

I only want people to join my newsletter list because they want to be there.

I’m not looking to grow a giant list, just say hello regularly to people that actually want to hear from me. If you like what you read and want to reply, I will definitely reply back.

If this seems like a good idea to you (and not like a drunken 4 am purchase of Ginsu knives from the shopping channel), welcome aboard.
