You want to sign up to Burn After Reeding?!
Woohoo! Come this way!
Burn After Reeding is my fortnightly (every other Tuesday) newsletter, where I share useful info for keeping your website up to date, what’s new with Squarespace, resources and helpful tips for small businesses, and my latest hot take or ridiculous anecdote. And every issue has a random cat pic, probably of the goof above.
Hey, I’m Dana Reed - Squarespace web designer, inveterate cat lady with a serious chocolate habit, artist, photographer, and strongly opinionated GenXer.
I’ve run small businesses for over a decade, in fields a varied as jewellery design and manufacturing to business admin and teaching metalsmithing and sailing. In addition to sharing what I’ve learned in business, as an autistic data gatherer, I love researching and have accumulated all sorts of random bits of knowledge that I happily pass on.
So if you’re interested in how to keep your website relevant, the latest and greatest with Squarespace, useful info to help you run your small business more efficiently, or best practices for accessibility, sign up to Burn After Reeding for a fortnightly hot take and cat pic.
This is Rascal, furry sidekick and real star of the show.
A little newsletter philosophy here:
I don’t know about you but it irks me to see something that might be useful on someone’s website, but I have to sign up to their mailing list to even see if it is.
And more often than not, it isn’t. It’s often just a puff piece that wasn’t worth the time to make it. Sure, they’re desperate to build their mailing list and would even take their neighbour’s dog as a subscriber. (Which is silly, as we all know, it’s cats that rule the interwebs.)
You won’t get that here. If I’ve got something cool to offer, for free, you’ll just be able to bloody well download it, no strings attached.
I only want people to join my newsletter list because they want to be there.
I’m not looking to grow a giant list, just say hello regularly to people that actually want to hear from me. And it’s not just me talking at people, if you like what you read and want to reply, I will definitely reply back.
If this seems like a good idea to you (and not like a drunken 4 am purchase of Ginsu knives from the shopping channel), welcome aboard.
