It’s not all about you.
Your website, that is.
While it showcases you and your business, it’s really all about your customers.
Which is why you need a home on the web that highlights how damn awesome you are and leaves no doubt in their minds that you are exactly what they need.
My job is to guide you through the process of creating your website so that it encompasses your business, your personality, and your values, in a way that will build trust with your customers.
It’s not just to make a website that looks pretty, (we want style and substance), but to present all the information a customer needs to make up their minds that working with you is a good fit, in a way that’s easy to follow and understand.
There’s an element of mentorship to this as well, as I’ll help you (if needed) in setting up your business–such as registering your business name, buying a domain, setting up your newsletter service and the other small but vital tasks of setting up a business for the first time.
I use my experience to provide advice on pricing, service/product offerings, marketing options, software and technology–and offer support, beyond getting your website online, that is particularly useful to new business owners and those looking to improve or expand upon their business.
What I’m bringing to the table:
(Besides all the puns you can stomach.)

Hiya, I’m Dana — sure, there’s tons of web designers, but for you, there can be only one.
My Scottish grandmother passed on a love of all things highlander. Yep, I can make real shortbread. And I learned to play the bagpipes as a teen. (How could I not?) I grew up listening to her records of Scottish folk music and pipe bands. Along with my grandfather’s Johnny Cash and my tape of whale songs.
Bits and bobs about your website designer
So how did I get into web design?
I’m an artist, designer (partly trained goldsmith - ADHD fml) and photographer. I’d made quite a few websites over the years, for myself and friends, and after getting laid off from one of the few jobs I’d managed to keep for more than a couple of years (go autism!), there was no way in hell I was going back to yet another crappy job.
You know what it’s like. Jobs are hard enough to find when you're over 45 and your value and years of hard-earned experience are dismissed. So why not make your own job, with something you’re great at? Now I’m a freelance Squarespace web designer.
Who can’t use a helpful studio assistant?
I used to have a steel trap mind, now it’s a bloody colander. At least my cat reminds me to feed her, my plants on the other hand, look very sad. And thirsty.
I can teach you how to electrochemically etch images onto metal and then actually make jewellery out of them. Or enamel them too.
I spent over 20 years in Vancouver, and over 7 of them just two blocks from Stanley Park. There’s nothing like the ocean right on your doorstep.
